Diferencia entre in time y on time en inglés
On time = puntual, a la hora exacta prevista (sin retraso). In time = con tiempo suficiente, antes de que sea demasiado tarde. En español ambas se traducen como 'a tiempo', lo que genera confusión. No son intercambiables en inglés.
ON TIME (puntual, a la hora)

En español 'a tiempo' cubre ambos significados según el contexto. 'Llegué a tiempo' puede ser 'on time' (puntual) o 'in time' (antes de que fuera tarde). En inglés hay que elegir. La clave: ¿hay una hora fija prevista? → on time. ¿Hay un plazo o situación que podría haber pasado sin ti? → in time.

Piensa en ON time como estar 'encima' de un horario fijo, sin retraso — llegas exactamente cuando se espera.
